Hiroshima unhappy atomic bomb park
is Pokemon GO site
Pokemon Go players are looking for items at the atomic bomb (原爆) memorial park in Hiroshima, and city officials (市の職員) are not happy.
They have asked game developer Niantic Inc to remove the “Pokestops” and other virtual sites from the park. The city wants them deleted by Aug 6, the anniversary of the 1945 bombing and the date of an annual ceremony (毎年の式典) to remember the victims.
*PokéStops are locations where players can gather items such as Poké Balls and Eggs.*
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park has been attracting players since the release of the addictive (夢中にさせる; 習慣性) smartphone game in Japan last Friday.
The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, and Arlington National Cemetery have also asked Niantic to remove the Pokestops from these locations. A museum spokesman (博物館のスポークスマン) said that the museum had been removed from the game after they asked.
